Sally Santiago is a Brazilian visual artist and researcher based in Porto, Portugal. She is currently a PhD candidate in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP, PT), holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Creation (UA, PT), and a BA in Social Communication (BR).
Her artistic and research practice explores the dialogue between human presence and its connection with the surrounding world, mainly relating to nature, rural environments, and the mind’s relation to living beings. Through video, installation, photography, and textile-based practices, her work engages with processes of perception, memory, and embodied experience, tracing how lived experience shapes sensitive forms of resonance and relation.
She has collaborated with cultural and artistic institutions including Cultivamos Cultura and Ectopia – Experimental Art Laboratory (Portugal), and the Center of Contemporary Art (CoCA), New Zealand. She was a member of the organizing and artistic committee of the international conference FEMeeting: Women in Arts, Science and Technology (Évora/PT 2022; Taos/US 2023; Windsor/CA 2024).
Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and international festivals of experimental film and video art, including PROYECTOR / Festival de Videoarte (Madrid, ES), FUSO International Video Art Festival (PT), Entre Olhares – Festival de Cinema Português (Barreiro, PT), Porto Femme International Film Festival (Porto, PT), Aparição/Desaparição (Rio de Janeiro, BR), and Alternative Film Festival (UK).
She received Honorable Mentions for the audiovisual installation Visual Chronicles of Where I Have Never Been (2024), awarded by CREA 2026 - Cantieri del Contemporaneo (Venice, IT), and for the videos Da verdade e do tempo (2020) at Aveiro Jovem Criador (PT), and Na antessala da consciência (2022) at the XII Bienal Internacional de Arte Jovem de Vila Verde (Vila Verde, PT).
Sally Santiago é uma artista visual e investigadora brasileira, baseada no Porto, Portugal. Atualmente é doutoranda em Artes Plásticas na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP, PT), possui Mestrado em Criação Artística Contemporânea (UA, PT) e licenciatura em Comunicação Social (BR).
A sua prática artística e de investigação explora o diálogo entre a presença humana e a sua relação com o mundo ao redor, sobretudo no que diz respeito à natureza, ambientes rurais e à relação da mente com os seres vivos. Através do vídeo, instalação, fotografia e práticas têxteis, o seu trabalho investiga processos de perceção e memória, acompanhando a forma como a experiência vivida molda formas sensíveis de ressonância.
Colaborou com instituições culturais e artísticas como a Cultivamos Cultura e a Ectopia – Laboratório de Arte Experimental (Portugal), e o Center of Contemporary Art (CoCA), na Nova Zelândia. Foi membro da comissão organizadora e artística da conferência internacional FEMeeting: Women in Arts, Science and Technology (Évora/PT 2022; Taos/EUA 2023; Windsor/CA 2024).
O seu trabalho tem sido apresentado em exposições individuais e coletivas, bem como em festivais internacionais de cinema experimental e vídeo arte, incluindo PROYECTOR / Festival de Videoarte (Madrid, ES), FUSO International Video Art Festival (PT), Entre Olhares – Festival de Cinema Português (Barreiro, PT), Porto Femme International Film Festival (Porto, PT), Aparição/Desaparição (Rio de Janeiro, BR) e Alternative Film Festival (Reino Unido).
